The Scottish Festival

Hellooooo Everyone!

I realize I have not done a cooking tutorial in a VERY long time for you all. But, I promise there is one coming next week! Since my husband (I love saying that!) and I returned from our wedding, things have been quite busy around our house! From unpacking, finding places for all our wedding gifts, writing thank you notes, and my husbands birthday this week, we have been SUPER busy! It has almost been a month since we got married, where has the time gone!?

Speaking of my husbands birthday, he decided this year that he wanted to go to the Scottish festival out at Boone Hall Plantation this past weekend. Boone Hall is one of my favorite places in the Charleston area. It's so beautiful, and it's so great to see that it is still in full production after so many years. Fun fact: Boone Hall was where a good amount of the movie The Notebook by Nicolas Sparks was filmed. Other parts were filmed around the Charleston area including Seabrook Island, and also parts of downtown Charleston were used as well!

We had a surprisingly fun time at the festival! We weren't expecting it to be as large as it was, but it was a successful first outing as a married couple. Here are some photos to recap the day:

Boone Hall in all its beauty!

I believe this is the old building where their cotton gin use to be.
The gardens.

 Field of cotton.
Pole throwing contest, not only for adults!
Children's wrestling as well, which was interesting.
These girls could dance so well! It almost made me want to learn to do it myself!
We came upon a WWII reenactment group. I didn't realize there was a small Hitler figure until I went back through these photos.
The guys were all dressed in what the men would have wore back then, which was great! It made me want to go home and watch Band of Brothers again.

If you look closely, this guy is winding up for the hammer throw!
Lastly, we watched and listened to a little Scottish music!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! If you ever get the chance to head out to this plantation, make sure afterwards you stop at their farm stand, not even a mile from the plantation. They have the best homemade ice cream! It's very refreshing after walking around all day!

We're Married!

We're MARRIED! Finally! AH! You know, we've only been talking about marriage since month one of our relationship, about 6 years ago. Our day was absolutely wonderful. Very, very busy and we were totally exhausted by the end of it, but it was all worth the obnoxious months of planning!

Today, I thought I would give you a recap of our wedding weekend through photos! I don't have all the photos from our friends and family over the course of the weekend yet, but I thought I would share what I do have that I took myself, and that our photographer tagged us in! Without further ado, here you go!

First, we took a 16 hour road trip to our home town.We came upon this corn field in the middle of the night at a gas station stop.

Lexi Lou of course came with us. She had a blast!

We finally made it! We were always too busy when we lived here to take the time and realize how beautiful it is. We also realized how much we miss living in a place that has yards and fields. It also was nice to see a place where the houses did not look the same, and each one had it's own spunky attributes.

My sister threw me a bridal shower and a bachelorette party! I had so much fun with all of the friends and family that was able to come!

I took some time to get pampered while I was there...

Our ceremony venue! Also, where my sweet husband proposed to me a year earlier, and we also said our vows in the same spot. It was absolutely perfect.

Wedding time! My lovely maids getting me all tucked into my wedding dress! I bought my wedding dress here!

Before the ceremony. I made my necklace, and my bridesmaids and I made our bouquets!

My beautiful rings! I still love these babies as much as the first day Ryan gave them to me!

Our Wedding Cake! It was so, so, so! SO! Good!

Cake by Katrina.

And lastly, the hotel gave us truffles and champagne to celebrate our marriage!

Overall, it was an amazing weekend! We loved getting to see all of our closest friends and family all in one place at once. It truly was the best day of our lives!
