As
our wedding is quickly approaching, we have been contemplating what to
register for, and where. We have been watching a ton of YouTube
videos comparing products to see which we would like to have in our
kitchen to meet our everyday needs. Three items we were comparing were a
regular blender, the Magic Bullet blender, and the Nutri Bullet.
It
was quite funny when we were watching these videos and comparing,
because I could totally care less about what product it was, I was more
interested in the recipes they were making! I was really interested in
the green smoothies the man in the Nutri Bullet video was making. He was
talking about why you add certain vegetables or fruit, and what they do
for your everyday health. These videos inspired me to not only register for the Nutri Bullet, but to also try making some of our own green smoothies at home.
So! To my kitchen I went this morning,
grabbed the tablet, got on Pinterest, and found a tutorial on how to
make these.
After finding this pin on Pinterest, I decided to give it a try because I had at least one thing from each category in my fridge and pantry. From #1 I used 8oz fresh brewed Green Tea from Twinnings. (my favorite!) I had never heard of using any kind of tea in a smoothie, but I surprisingly liked having it in there. From #2 I grabbed 2-3 handfuls of spinach. #3, I only had 1 cup of grapes in my fridge and no other fruits. #4, I used two, a good squeeze of half a lemon, and half a handful of cilantro, (its really strong so use sparingly or try a different herb or spice.) I decided not to use anything from #5, as I did not have any of those.
To the blender I went! First in went the spinach, followed by cilantro, grapes, lemon juice and the green tea last. (This helps everything blend better if the liquid is added last.) I let the blender run for a few minutes to puree everything as much as possible. As you can see by the photo, it didn't puree all the way into a juice consistency.
Voila! Green Smoothie! This turned out much better than I thought it would. At first, I was a little hesitant to add in the cilantro, but it wasn't a bad addition. Next time I think I will use a different item in that category. Maybe fresh ginger?
If anyone has suggestions about different green smoothie mixes, leave them in the comments below! I would love to try them!
Have a happy Thursday!
